Cosmopolitan Interview with Siwon

Cosmo: In the movie 'To The Fore', Eddie Peng, Dou Xiao and you are brothers. On the stage, you and your Super Junior brothers are also full of energy. Do you guys admire each other among yourselces?
Siwon: During To The Fore shooting, the director, Eddie and Dou Xiao are all passionate men. Even though we started filming at 5 or 6 am everyday, it was the first time that I didn't feel tired at all. The energy produced when the men are united is as if we are on steroid. It is even more so when I am with my Super Junior members. We grew up together, we shared the memories of helping each other along the journey. As long as we are together, no matter how tough it is, we always feel energized.

Cosmo: What is the one thing that you can never accept?
Siwon: I hate to copy others. You can use the good points of others as reference but as a person, you should try to be yourself. I cannot accept imitation, this (imitating) means that I lack self-confidence. I don't want the word 'copy' to exist in my world. I also don't suggest girls to copy the styles of others.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clear eyes, pretty dimples, broad shoulders that give people a sense of security. He has been the visual of Super Junior since debut. Regardless of MV or stage performances, as long as it is Siwon who comes out first, fans will scream even harder. After debut, Siwon went to Beijing to learn Mandarin. He takes part in Chinese media interviews and he has the most appearances in variety shows among members. Many Chinese fans became ELF of Super Junior because of him. If you take away his given natural advantages, he is still the best choice to be the 'ambassador'. Some celebrities are handsome but doesn't have friends, they have a kind of invading, strong charisma. Siwon is handsome but people want to be friends with him. Handsome but not invading, bright, always smiling humbly, clear eyes, and the most precious thing is it hasn't changed for 10 years.
When Chinese estate magnates, Ren ZhiQiang and Pan Shiyi visted Seoul, Siwon represented the company to have a meal with them. At that time, Psy's Gangnam Style aroused interest among the business men who didn't know much about the entertainment industry. The frank and direct Ren ZhiQiang posted a photo of him and Siwon on Weibo and wrote "I wanted to see Psy but I saw him instead. I heard that he does dramas, but I don't know him." This caused much annoyance among fans. Siwon is like this, he doesn't tell others of his accomplishments, always taking care of others gentlemanly, he always shake hands with a tight grip, always interact with sincerity. In this era when big stars are hard to interact with, his low profile makes people wonder, do celebrities behave like this?
Siwon told Cosmo, because he believes in Christianity, he doesn't have a lot of desires. He believe that if he follows the word 'kindness', he will not have enemies. Sometimes people occasionally say something rude or fight with one another, don't put it to heart, slowly they will become your friends. On the morning of the shooting day, in the activity venue, Pan Shiyi met Siwon for the second time but is already treating him like a good friend. Ren ZhiQiang even posted on his weibo, complaining that Pan Shiyi didn't inform him that Siwon is here. As expected, in this scrutinizing economy generation, he didn't have any scandals about not getting along with anyone. He didn't do anything daring or loud, he didn't really have resources in the entertainment industry and yet everyone is willing to be his friend. From Jackie Chan and Andy Lau's generation to Eddie Peng and Fan Bingbing. Siwon is the real 0-negative-remarks partner.
Cosmo: Witnessing the growth of so many Super Junior members and the different choices the people around you made, how do you hold onto your own decision?
Siwon: As a man, I must be responsible for the choices I made. You need courage and faith to make a choice. Sometimes when people feel lost, not knowing which path is the correct one, try asking your heart. You cannot hide or shun when you have to make a decision. Because I have my own belief, I depend on it. In life, kindness and evil will both exist. As long as you persistently move in the the correct direction, time will give you a good answer.
Cosmo: You started training very early, after debut, you have so many schedules. We often hear other celebrities complaining, why don't you?
Siwon: I think there will always be someone busier than me. Being busy isn't such a bad thing. Having an irregular lifestyle, I try to rest as much as I can when it's time to rest, eat more when it's time to eat. Finding empty time slots, there will always be time for exercise. Complaining will not improve the situation, it will only make your mood bad and thus make your body bad too. We are a team, I treat my body as everyone else's body. In order not to cause hindrance to others, creating problems for others, I must take care of my mood and body.
Warm Guy,
that is his true self
On the day of shooting, Beijing was cloudy, the air smell of pollution, one can almost taste something weird if he opens his mouth. Siwon just finished an outdoor launch event. While styling his hair, he looks tired. When he changed into a sleeveless shirt, the long scars on his arms were from an accident he had when filming a racing scene in To The Fore a few days ago. Before this, he already had a serious injury on his neck, the second injury was on his arms, back and several other places.
Talking about this experience, Siwon said,"This is really an unforgettable experience." At first we thought he was referring to the hard times but we actually don't understand him well. This oppa with explosive positive energy continued,"This let me get to know the best doctors in Shanghai."
He is a man like this, always being thankful, content, not complaining about filming everyday before dawn. The movie is about the relationship between a group of passionate cyclists, Siwon acted as a cycling expert nicknamed 'Charging King'. He was the target of Eddie Peng in the movie. Everyday the filming burnt his energy and there was little time for rest. But Siwon told us this is the least tiring filming in his acting career because he was together with people with the same goal, trying to exceed himself is the best way to refill himself with energy.
He had Super Junior concert on the day of his injury. After having his wound taken care of in the hospital, he insisted to go to the concert venue, he said that he must give fans an answer. "My body is mine but it also belongs to everyone. I didn't take care of my body well, I must overcome that myself. I can't affect the others." His expression when he said this reminded us of someone, we asked if he has any model he looks up to. As expected, Siwon said it is Andy Lau. During Battle of Wits filming, Andy's persistency and strength let Siwon understand that in this industry where there are many new celebrities and strong competition, having good looks without the ability to endure hard times, without good reputation, without positive energy, you are just a newbie, not god. ('God' is a term the Chinese use for male celebrities who are extremely good looking and accomplished)
The term, 'God', sounds a little cold. Warm guy, is his true self. When we talked about this saying 'little happiness', Siwon said this is a topic which makes him blessed. "It is important to be happy over little things. Being thankful to little things, you will feel happier each day. Although there a lot of small happiness which can't be granted now, if you think about it, this moment is happy too. We asked him to give us a small example and his answer makes everyone there feel the happiness. "In such a wonderful people, working with such great people, chatting and laughing with you all like this is happiness too. The pollution outside was bad this morning but such bad things can also help us to understand happiness. Like I am sitting on a comfortable bed right now, thinking that we are not doing interview outdoors, this is a very happy thing."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Cosmo: If you are not a celebrity, what kind of jobs do you want to try?
Siwon: I believe if a person can do one thing well, the other things will not be tough for him. No matter what I do, I hope to put in my best. Like I am not good at cooking but if you give me time, I believe I can do it well.

Cosmo: On screen and off screen, you give people the impression 'tall, rich and handsome', have you ever desire for success?
Siwon: I am not the kind of person who must win over others. Because I have my religious belief, I don't have much desire over success. I live with the mentality of solving a jigsaw puzzle. Trying my best to follow the path that I have planned and learning a lot of things in the process. It's just like collecting the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle, there is no need to complete that picture impatiently. Slowly enjoy the process of collecting and accumulating the pieces.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Being famous for so many years, he doesn't have many scandals. Siwon has always protected his non-celebrity girlfriend well (not saying that he has a girlfriend, the interviewer just made an assumption), opening the internet and searching for 'Siwon's girlfriend photo', the only ones that come out are the edited photos of him and his Super Junior members. Because Siwon always have a serious expression, people always take him seriously when he is joking. Recently a joke which has been a hot topic was Siwon's weibo post to his co-star in To The Fore, cello player OuYang Nana, "I will wait for you for 6 years." Has oppa fallen in love with the beautiful girl? Fans' broken hearts were scattered all over, later it was found out that he was just joking with his line from the movie.
In Korean dramas, the story of Cinderella with a rich man's son is always a popular subject. Even though he has an incredible background, with a rumour that he travels in a private plane, Siwon said that he likes the ordinary type of girls, not a cold 'goddess'. When getting to know each other, it's not the physical conditions or the arrangement of the families that matter. It's the warm feeling from the eyes, the smile that let him know that you like him, the kind of warmth and peace that can put his mind to rest.
Siwon's preference for warm girls probably comes from his mother. Mama Choi is the sign for warmth. "There was once when I didn't say anything and arrived back home one day earlier from my plans. At night, I arrived home without informing my mum and told her that I am hungry. Although my mum isn't good at cooking, she made me some soup, I feel very contented with this." Talking about his travels, he mentioned that his unforgettable memories of visiting the Great Wall with his mother when they came to China for the first time. After saying that, he gave an apologetic expression and told us,"Today we have this Cosmo interview, I shouldn't be talking about my mother. Actually, you want to hear more about girlfriends right?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Siwon must have realized the curiosity that we have been holding back, he said,"It's ok, you can ask anything." Then he shared with us his idea about romance.

"From my point of view, the most romantic thing to do is to have a quiet meal in a big room with a small table on a very cold day in winter. Even though it's a small date, this is the kind of warmth that I want. From the girlfriend's point of view, the kind of romantic gestures she wants is something creative. She will be anticipating, exceeding her anticipated expectation will be truly romantic. I will need to use my creativity." Then he gave us a pitiful expression,"This isn't fair right?" Is it hard to exceed your girlfriend's expectations? "Not difficult, I can do it." He answered confidently.

Cosmo: What is the common mistakes between a couple in your opinion?
Siwon: Losing confidence, when a person is not confident about his relationship, he will choose to give up first when facing problems, then he will not have a beautiful ending.

Cosmo: Will a very handsome man thinking looks are important when choosing his partner? What do you think of the physical and inner qualities of a woman?
Siwon: The looks of a woman is important but what she is thinking in her heart will be shown on her physical looks. Even though the first impression of physical looks is important, a terrible personality will quickly break the attraction that was brought forward by physical looks. Both looks and personalities are important, if you insist me to pick one, I will have a terrible headache.

Cosmo: What kind of relationship do you want most now?
Siwon: I will think of marriage. I will think of my partner waiting for me to come home after a day's work. My parents, sister and us will live together in harmony, this is what I desire.

Cosmo: In Korean dramas, the tall, rich and handsome male leads normally didn't fall in love with a girl of the same status, but an ordinary girl. Do you think a relationship across different statuses can last?
Siwon: I have a similar experience for this, true love can overcome many obstacles. I believe a story like this will happen in real life, there are evidences of romance that defies the social classes. There is nothing impossible. Whether the Cinderella style romance can last depends on how well the 2 person can get along. Both need to trust each other and overcome their differences together.

Cosmo: The relationships in Korean dramas are always very persistent, it can only be him. But in real life, is it true that people have to go through several relationships to understand what is true love?
Siwon: This problem differs from person to person. Some people treat the relationship as their only gem, carrying this gem till the end. There is another kind of person, looking at this gem, that gem thinking all are good, trying them before finding the one that suits them the most. Both of them are responsible people. But there is another kind of person, he wants everything, this is mine, that is mine too. This kind of person is more dangerous.

Cosmo: Which kind of person are you among these three?
Siwon: This question can only be answered by the woman who walked into my heart.

Cosmo: How do you look at the term 'sexy'? Give a definition for the 'goddess' in your heart.
Siwon: Sexy goddess is the kind that gives out a natural charisma. She moves people's hearts but yet you feel a distance between you and her. If a pretty woman dresses up sexily but she has no aura, men will just go ahead directly to talk to her. I think that is not true sexiness. The true 'sexy goddess' is the kind that attracts me but the attraction is so strong that I dare not go near her.

Cosmo: In your point of view, do you think it is necessary to receive your elders' blessings in a marriage?
Siwon: Love is between 2 person but if you talk about marriage, it's the harmonization of 2 families. A wise woman will receive love from the elders through sincere communication. A good man must also be capable of making the woman around him happy. In recent years, there are many people who are too self-centered. Although it's important to have your own personality, it is not conflicting with understanding and accepting each other. With the blessings from friends and family, everyone being harmonious, that is my ideal marriage.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cosmo: Is it possible for a sparrow to become a phoenix? Or is it just a marketing term for business and the desires of women?
Siwon: I saw with my own eyes a staff that works with me used to be very sloppy and had no confidence with her appearance at all. Suddenly something came over her and started to learn how to dress up and found a style that suits her. Together with make up and working out, without having any surgeries done, she has changed a lot. Her aura totally changed. But to me that doesn't mean it's a good thing. She became arrogant after becoming beautiful, she has the temper of a pretty girl, not as friendly as before. But I still applause for her change.
Cosmo: What kind of girls is strong and yet you would want to get near her?
Siwon: Strong women normally have self confidence, and confident women will attract people. In Korea, we have a female president. Among our staff, we have a lot of capable women. The manager who keeps nagging me is a woman like this too. They give out a strong aura when they focus on their work. The way they work is really cool.
Cosmo: Can you draw your ideal 'goddess'? How will you draw her? Black wavy hair with red lips?
Siwon: Beauty has no definite shape. It's not about black or blonde hair, as long as it is not too weird, like dying her hair white...... I hope everyone will not put too much attention to the little flaws of your physical looks. Compared to always spending time to imitate the style of others, it's better to just live happily.
Cosmo: Female celebrities have to have many styles and stay sensitive to fashion trends. Do you like the girls around to constantly change their styles?
Siwon: If they change for the better of course I am happy for them. When I see a sloppy girl becomes prettier after dressing up, I will applause for them. But don't over do it. The difference between beautiful or not can sometimes be tiny. A suitable change is a surprise but overdoing it will be a little weird.
Cosmo: You have a great body, what is the ratio of the suffering and happiness when working out? What kind of body do you think is good for a lady?
Siwon: When working out, I need to combine both cardio and muscles training using scientific ways. Girls don't need to be like us, doing a lot of resistence training for big muscles. They just need to enjoy the process of working out. Blood circulation will give people a good colour on their complexion (this is a chinese term and there isn't a direct translation in English), a healthy body with curves is the most beautiful.
ELLE MEN with Siwon
ELLE MEN Interview
Just when Hongkong women are crazy for Korean dramas, Super Junior comes again. Although the senior male group has debuted for 9 years and is no longer Junior, the fans didn't become weak despite the surge of new Korean boy bands debuting. Instead, they stood firmly on Hongkong's stage. Their popularity and status remain as Super. Folks still forked out cash immediately when they come to Hongkong for their concert. Among them, Choi Siwon, who has a lot of female fans, arrived in Hongkong a few days earlier than others. Many female fans waited day and night to see this handsome face, to listen to his Cantonese greetings followed by Korean, 'Hi everyone, I am Choi Siwon.'
This interview was surprisingly done using English. We prepared the questions in Korean, thinking that he will be happy with them but he spoke English to us. The reason behind is pretty direct "I don't like it when I can't express myself." In these 9 years, the Korean has worked hard on his English. "I realized that being able to understand but not express myself is an uncomfortable feeling. So I wanted to learn English well, this is my personality."
So for the past 9 years, he has been working hard while working in many places. Today his Twitter has more than 4 million followers, he can speak Korean, English and Mandarin. Playing well with languages, he can even speak Japanese and Thai?!
"I asked my friends to help write them!", this is more reasonable, else this man will be too flawless.
"I want everyone to know what kind of person I am: friendly, interesting and sincere." So he continued to not depend on the translator, trying his best to express himself, letting others find the real him between the languages.
"Everyone knows that the Korean entertainment industry is very strict with Korean celebrities, fortunately my managers trust me very much; they know what kind of person I am, I like to express myself and they let me express myself freely."
Debuting in 2005 then he sang and danced. Members of the same group have their own schedules and they sometimes gather to perform together. 2 years ago, he started getting Chinese films and dramas, right now is like half a Chinese industry celebrity. This year, the 10 brothers gathered to have their concerts and also to mark their 9th anniversary.
"I like to be with my partners. After the concert, we celebrated SJ 9th anniversary with colleagues from Hongkong and designers. We had some red wine and visited a pub I like very much in Tsim Sha Tsui. Then we had some soju and beer, we are always like this when we have beer, drink it in one shot!"
He also joked that 9 years has too long. "I don't want to play with them, haha! I see them too much, and we are starting to get old, what is there to play,..."
He was gesturing a lot when talking about it, he treasures them even though he said 'no'.
"We have very different thinking but we chat a lot, I prefer to be the listener. If I am to choose the one that I communicate with the most, it will probably be Leeteuk, we get along well, he is the leader."
Especially recently he has been working a lot on movies, "Everyone has a kind of connection in the movie industry, our thinking is the same." He is even a workaholic that doesn't want to rest.
"I will prepare for the next job if I have no work."
Each SJ member will have holidays of a week to 10 days every 6 months. Siwon's habit is to keep his behaviour in check even during play. "I only rest during my holidays, have some beer or champagne. Going to a party and getting drunk is not relax, I think resting for 5 minutes or 30 minutes after work is relaxing. Am I weird?"
This is the 2nd time for Siwon to be on the cover of ELLE MEN. He expressed that he is more excited this time than previously when the shot was done in Korea, and the staff in Hongkong is friendlier than those in Korea. A total of 6 sets of clothes, separated into the 1st and 2nd half. Half of them are flowery and the half is classic winter wear. It is obvious that Siwon prefers the latter, he become more enthusiastic as the shoot continues.
"I don't like shopping, but I will get those clothes that can be worn for many years. Like the sweater and shoes that I am wearing now."
The shoes that he is wearing now were bought from USA and he has been wearing them for 8 years. He will definitely wear them every time he goes overseas, the reason being he wants to give each of them a story.
"Like this bracelet, it was handmade by a man in Isreal, there is only one in this world, it's unique, seeing it is like seeing the shadow of the designer and his thoughts." Every time he wears it to a place, it will have another story. More importantly. the clothes must fit, the colours are important too, you will never be bored with black, white and blue.
"Of course this doesn't include handphones. Handphone is the only thing that I change often."
He doesn't care too much about fashion, or actually he just looks good in everything he wears. Or maybe we can put it this way, he doesn't want to own things without thoughts, just like his love.
Previously when we interviewed Siwon on ELLE MEN, Siwon said that he is too busy to date. This time he has another explanation, "I have time for dating but I didn't come across someone that I want to love; The person I am waiting for, the person that I want to love, my ideal type, is someone that will treat my family well, and someone that has good relationship with her family. She will be a good bridge between my family and her family.Yes, I have always been waiting."
Romance has always been a taboo for Korean stars. So it was surprising that different members are revealing their relationships this year. Like SJ's Sungmin who is getting married soon. Everyone is concern about their romance and everyone said that Siwon's is the top choice as a boyfriend for girls. This is undeniable, but we are surprise that he is more like a good husband.
"People in this generation often only care about their own work, only think about themselves, neglecting their family, no time? No. No heart. They didn't love their family life."
Indeed, he is a family man, 2 bonus points added to him for bringing his mum to Hongkong this time.
"I wanted to see her more, both of us are busy but we try to see each other and spend time together; I always want her to come see me if I have performances overseas."
Most importantly, it's for his mum to take a break. "Women, especially mothers, need time for themselves, because they often take care of the family and accompany husbands, they will want to have more private time."
How can this man worry about not having love?
Lastly we talked about this year's Christmas. He already answered before I get to ask, "Christmas working, no vacation!"
It's time to work again, reminding us, "You know there are many awards ceremonies and performances in Korea during this time of the year. Right now I need to prepare 1 Chinese drama, 4 movies, the concert tour which just started, 2 albums and other schedules and CFs, so... no time!"
Doing volunteer work with family and then have lunch together, play with his dog Bugsy... maybe all these can only be done when he retires. When talking about Chrsitmas presents, he gave a surprising answer. "Presents, it will be the best to give money! My family will like it very much (joking)! Especially for mum. I will give her shopping vouchers or air ticket but the best present should be spending Christmas with them. Fans don't have to give me presents, just give me a receipt of donation for charity."
Recently I saw a Korean variety show, Super Idol Chart Show, which shows that Siwon is very popular among Korean females between the age of 30-40. He laughed upon hearing this... "I should tell them 'Are you free tonight? Give me your number, I will call you (in Cantonese)' of course I am grateful to them!" Siwon attracts noonas? He said he is just growing up with fans, just like the sunbaes Jackie Chan and Andy Lau, growing up and getting the acknowledgement from the elders. This might be the moment that Siwon has been waiting for.
Women's Central - Heechul P2/2
I have been curious from just now, how do the members get along?
The bands in the past are formed by people who have the same interest but idol groups are kids who don't know each other being put together. It doesn't matter if we have the same interest, there will definitely be conflicts within the group. The question is how to resolve the conflicts. We must have some conflicts first before we can develop a relationship. SJ has more members so even if there are quarrels, at most they will fight to solve the problem. If 2 members of a 5-6 members group fight, the other kids will not know what to do. But if 2 members of our group fight, the rest, 9-10 of us, will continue to play. Though it might be awkward at first, they will make up as we play.
What kind of fights?
I heard that there isn't a a group that fights like us. We said in broadcasts too that there were direct quarrels.. we talked about slapping each other too. Doing so (fighting) reduces misunderstandings. After our relationship gets deeper, quarrel will lessen.
Never fought over money before?
The amount of money we get for each member is the same so we never fight over money. We just take our own portion. But like I did War of Words alone, the pay from that will go to me. The pay from concerts is unconditionally 1/n (divided equally).
When was SJ the most popular?
2009 dduring Sorry Sorry. At that time we consecutively got number 1 on the charts in Taiwan. After that for the next 3 years, our albums got number 1 in Taiwan too.
You must have made a lot of money.
I spent a lot of it away. Because I bought a weird piece of land and got cheated.
So your asset is 50million? 100million?
Aye~! Let's skip this question. If you keep doing this I will go to a rival company and tell them everything that I didn't say here. And I will tell them everything I said in Women's Central is not true! I am done for if I reveal that here or talk about money.
Hahaha, ok I know.. But the money you make also have ups and downs?
Of course, I make more when we release albums or have concerts but I don't get anything during enlistment. Actually SJ was at its peak when I was doing military service.
Why did you got to the army at the best moment to make money?
Because I was impatient. People around me advised me to go later but I still went in like that. I hated it that I had to go to the Army office every time I go for overseas shows, so I thought I might as well enlist. Even the company can't stop me. I went into public service because of my injury from an accident. I went in quietly and came out quietly.
How is the life of public service?
Others might read/study a lot in these 2 years and received certifications, but for me, I only think about not being in other people's sight and to not create troubles. Because I don't want to attract attention, I wore simple clothes and took the subway to and from work.
Even so, I think many people found out?
Even those elders who don't know that I am a SJ member will look at me. Because I am handsome. (laughs) The funny thing is, those people who saw me when I am working were quiet. "Omo, Heechul ssi, hi," just like that, ended. But when it is time to knock off, if 2 or 3 people recognize me, they will go like "Oh Kim Heechul! Kim Heechul!" Those people whom I bumped into when I am going to work are sometimes the same as those peopl I bumped into when I knock off. But they are quiet when they are going to work and they will ask to take photos together when they knock off, it was a total change. Those who go to restaurants or pubs alone will not be involved with scandals. Those who hangout with women will create scandals.
Looks like many fan went to look for you at Sungdong Office.
It was like this at first. But my thinking was 'I am a public soldier now, I am not a celebrity during enlistment' so I told those fans who came "It cause inconvenience for me if you come like this. Don't come anymore" And they really stopped coming. My fans are obedient and look after me well.
I heard that fans are obedient because you are scary.
Because they know my temper (laughs). But that was all in the past, I have changed a lot.
Looks like you felt a lot of emotions during public service.
Loving my job, thankful for the present, thoughts like this. In the past, I will have bad mood if someone asked me for my autograph in a restaurant, I will not eat and just leave while nagging. Nobody likes to be interrupted during meals. No manners (laughs). But while working in the district, many people asked for photos and autographs and  I gave them. My way of thinking has changed a lot. To me it isn't something that is tiring, but to others, it is something that will become a precious memory. I reflected a lot on my past.
Men becomes more matured when they come back from the army.
Aiya~ but it will be uninteresting if a celebrity becomes matured. I want to be immature in an appropriate way. I can't get into trouble. I want to live as happily as I can within the laws of Korea.
I mean something like this.
Even the way one looks at women changes after the army.
The way I look at women is the same from before to now. I like those who are elegant and pretty. Because my character is like a blade so it is best if I find a woman who is like a sheath. She can slowly guide me, age doesn't matter.
Looks doesn't matter?
I don't look at face and height. But I look at the figure, I like girls with nice legs.
Looks like you have met a lot of women.
Not a lot, but just right. I don't always have a girlfriend. My longest relationship was 5 months. Actually I am the kind who doesn't like to meet women. Up to middle school, I only played computer games. I only know about the female characters in games. I have no feelings for real-life women. To be honest, the female characters in games are prettier. But I have a little more feeling of wanting to get in a relationship after 30 years old. If I were to get into a relationship,  I want to date with a normal girl. Holding hands on the street, doing things like how normal couples do.
But then everyone can still recognize you.
Of course there will be some sacrifice. Even so, compared to both being celebrities, the attention from the media will still be smaller if she is a normal person. Recently my fans have been telling me to stop playing games and get married. Told me not to slip into the game characters and prefers me to meet a real girl instead. I am thankful to my fans, I have brought a lot of troublesome matters to them. When I took photos with women, or when I talk about women in broadcasts, no matter how cool my fans are, there are still possibilities that they dislike it. However they have been very understanding, I am really thankful.
Didn't you have any special impressions of any fans?
Hahahaha... but those fans that I remember have already gotten married. I even sent them flowers. The relationship with my fans is even higher than of working colleagues and family. No matter what happens, we will still move forward hand in hand. Actually I can't talk well and I have a short temper too but fans have been taking care of this immature oppa, I am really thankful.
You like kids a lot? Recently in Superman Returns, you took good care of the kids.
In the past I used formal language with the kids, I didn't know what to do. But those kids who were born recently are really cute. I am also very curious how pretty a kid who looks like me will be. So I told my mum I want to quickly have a child but I don't want to get married. Mum said I am crazy. Marriage is really a very far away topic. I am not familiar with dating, how can I be responsible to a woman? I am not confident yet. I would rather co-habitat first and if both of us get along then we get married, it doesn't sound too bad like this.
You are very honest, but no matter what, you do have thoughts to get married.
Because I am immature, I can't date a girl for a long time. I didn't do well too but I want to get married. After dating, it there are thoughts of getting married, we will get married naturally.
How will you treat a woman?
I will just do whatever I want, that's why I didn't have a relationship for a long time. I never lie or say empty words. On my girlfriend's birthday I even told her 'We are not married, why do I need to give a gift?' Just like this, I hurt the girl's feelings. I won't get married instantly, we must date and then get married naturally. But I seem to spoil it too early. I think maybe expressions are important. When the girl makes me a lunchbox, even if it's tasteless, maybe I have to tell a white lie ans say it's delicious.
You are the kind that can express love.
I am the kind that can look after someone from the back. There was once when I fell sick, my girlfriend brought me a lunchbox. While eating I was thinking 'my girlfriend traveled so far for me, this isn't good'. So from then on I never tell her when I was sick. I don't want her to be worried for me. When my girlfriend is sick, I will let her rest, I will leave the medicines at her doorstep and leave. I was afraid that if I asked her to come out to get the medicine, she will feel burdened. I hate the idea of male chauvinist.
That is quite manly. Then how would you like girls to express themselves?
In the past, I hate it when others try to restrict me. I don't like it when company or parents try to restrict me but it's different with a girlfriend. Calling each other in the morning to chat, calling each other when going out, it's really interesting. I felt restricted when I first did that, isn't there a song 'Sweet Restrictions', I like that kind...
Have you prepared surprises for girls before?
On the 100th day anniversary with my girlfriend, I booked a restaurant, put up some balloons and smoke, play some music in the background, a surprise like this. I had a bad fight with her the day before, so I rented the restaurant in the last minute. I was quite lost and didn't know what to do so I just curled up and didn't dare to look at my girlfriend's eyes. It was my first time doing such a thing since I was born. I want to tell my guy friends, the effect of a project like this can only last for a week. In the end it's still better to treat her well consistently.
Even if it was rented in the last minute, a surprise like this is not bad.
Hong Seok-cheon hyung was the one who came up with this idea. And that was his shop. If I am dating, it will be good to date a normal girl. Walking on the streets, hand in hand, I want to do stuff like what other normal dating couples do.
When did you first start dating a girl?
When I was 22 and was still a trainee. She was older than me. We broke up after seeing each other for 2 weeks. We went to DVD room to watch Lion King. When I am reading manga or playing games, I really hate to have people walking around me or touching me. There was a sad scene and I was going to cry but my girlfriend kept caressing me, so I turned my face away, after that we broke up.
It's a little unbelievable, sounds like an idol's answer.
It's true! Hyung, I was too childish at that time.
You prefer games and movies to girlfriends?
There was once I broke up with a celebrity girlfriend over computer games. "Oppa, do you like games or do you like me?" I replied "I like both." "What? Oppa, how can you say this?", "It doesn't mean you like me" and then she got angry and wanted a break up so we broke up.
Are you still playing games?
Of course, recently I am playing LOL with Lee Minho of The Heirs. We can't meet up so we just went back to our respective homes. After schedules, I connect my computer, Minho is often there. We will open the chatroom and chat there while playing.
You have said before that it's better to invest in game characters because they won't leave you unless you delete the game.
I said this in a broadcast before. Although i got 'bashed' by many females, I have also given hope to many people who likes to stay in. When I was doing the radio broadcast, my female fans decreased and male fans increased. There was once when Girl's Days came over as guests for Valentine's Day special and they said that they will make chocolates in the past for their boyfriends and the boyfriends loved it. So I told them "They are all lying. I told them boys prefer gas vouchers or gift vouchers over chocolates. I really got scolded by many female listeners but the male listeners cheer for me.
You will go to any game broadcasts?
I have been to Gamenet League of Legend broadcast, I am Carry, before. I did some commentation and also played the game. Although I did the commenting for 4 hours, it was really fun. I was afraid that the TV station might be worried of my fees so I didn't go get the money.  During meal gathering, I also paid for the bill. Actually I really want to be On Gamenet MC. But there are many circumstances which I can't anticipate so I didn't do it. Next time if there is a chance, I must try it.
The company doesn't object this? Super Junior's Kim Heechul hosting a game show.
The words I hate most is 'Why did you appear in such a show?' or 'Why did you meet such a low class person?' We work together so where does all this grading come from? In this world I hate talks about 'classes' the most. 'You have lowered your class,' then I will say 'So what? no matter where I am, who I am with, I am still Kim Heechul.' If I can, I really want to do everything that I want to do.
How do you manage your human network?
I don't manage it. I just hangout with people who gets along with me. A lot of celebrities hide things from each other and cares about 'classes' so it's hard to get close, but I am not like this. I am honest and I don't like to lie. Those close to me includes Ma Dongsuk, Cho SeHo, Son Dambi, Taeyeon, Park shinhye etc. Regardless of gender, we are drinking buddies. I will meet with good actors, good singers and good comedians, none of those around me cares about 'classes'.
Looks like everything you do is 4 dimensional and you have your own way of thinking.
One of the reason why I live in the dorm is because I love to play. When I drink too much in a banquet or gathering... in occasions like these, there will definitely be women. When I drank too much, women will come over and do aegyo and say 'Can't we drink more in Oppa's house?' If I am living alone, there might be more cases like this, so living in a dorm really suits me.
Are you telling me that there are women who will tell men that they want to drink in their homes?
There are really a lot, hyung you have never encounter this?
This is the difference between an idol and a middle age man. In my life, when I was young and still single, I have never heard of 'let's go drink more in your home' before.
For Kim Heechul, phrases like 'the world of 4 dimensions' and 'full of confidence' have been following you.
Because it is the truth. To be honest, during my debut period, anyone around me will feel annoyed and burdened by me. But being a DJ, meeting many people, it has taught me how to judge situations. My bipolar may have impacted negatively on some broadcasts. After knowing this, I will work harder towards a more positive direction, seems like my personality has changed too. I also have more feelings after finishing my military service and coming back
What do you think your charm is?
The sense of surprise. To be able to see something unexpected, isn't that interesting? When I just debuted, some say I look like Japanese. But then they found out that I grew up in Gangwon-do, a man who looks like a girl but has a frank character and can drink well, many people like the sense of surprise like this.
Which one do you like best between singing, variety, acting, DJ and MC?
I feel happiest to be a singer. Especially when I hear the explosive screams from the fans during concerts. This sense of excitement can only be felt on stage together with fans. So no matter where I go, I will say that I am a Super Junior and a singer.
When will Super Junior comeback?
This year we will have a new album as well as a world tour. And it is Super Junior's 10th anniversary. We are often energetic, this time we will be able to do very well too. I wish that Super Junior will always be happy. This is a battle concerning how far we can move forward. When I was little, I thought that it is most important to be handsome and charming but from some point onwards, I felt that this is all useless.
To Kim Heechul, Super Junior is...
In the beginning when there were 13 members in the group, people asked what do we have left after dividing it (profits) between 13 people. A lot of talks like this. But the truth is, our existence cannot be bought with money. When we go to TV stations, or anywhere else, we will be proud. Super Junior is not a job for me, it is a harbour where I can rest. Other than the members, who can accept me when I throw a tantrum when I am in a bad mood? Anyone can accept me when I make noises in a good mood. I become more careful when I get more popular but I don't have to be like this with the members. Sometimes I go naked and I don't close the door when I shower, just open the door and go in. I think it's good to have a relationship like this. The members' existence is now something I cannot be without in my life.
Lastly tell us your plans.
I am thankful to be able to get into the company despite always creating troubles in school. My parents are also happy with  my current success. I feel proud when my parents are happy to see me on variety shows. When I am tired, I often think about what I will be if I am not a celebrity. I am not someone will plan far into the future. I am someone who plans for the future like what I am planning now for tomorrow to do my best.
Women's Central - Heechul P1/2
You are 32 this year?
Yes, it was like yesterday that I was 30, suddenly I am 32.
Shouldn't you be leaving SJ now? (laugh) You are now like the backbone of idols. What do you think of the new idols?
I feel bad when I see those idols debuting at a very young age. I have done everything that I should have done and should not have done when I was a student. Like working part time, getting hit by the teacher, playing with friends... I have done all those things. Now the rookies start training at a very young age, they almost didn't have any memories of student life and they don't have many friends too.
Did you debut immediately after graduating from high school?
Yes, I was the kind that debuted late. Most of them become trainees when they are in middle school. I enjoyed myself and played enough, it was around October, I was thinking if I should go for an audition? So I came to Seoul and took part in the SM audition and I got selected. I used to come to  Seoul a lot with my friends to play. Every weekend, there will be many people coming for auditions. There wasn't even any empty space in front of the company. I thought it was interesting so I went for it and I got selected. I took part in the audition in 2002 October and started to be a trainee in November.
What were you doing between 2002 February when you have graduated high school to 2002 October when you become a trainee?
Playing and I also worked for awhile.
Didn't you think of going to university?
I attended a technical school and started working on the 2nd year of high school. Then I interned at a water factory on my 3rd year. The university I went to was Sangji University. I have worked in a furnace shop and a swimming pool before. From the 2nd year of high school onwards, I started distributing flyers. Is it ok to take photos with these beer bottles? I have a recording tomorrow and I didn't want to drink. But since hyung is drinking, I will have one glass too.
The natural atmosphere like this is good. The age of your fans will also go up from 10-20 years old to 40-50 years old. Say everything you want to say today!
I like the comfortable atmosphere too, hyung, cheers! Wah, it's so cooling! Feels good.
You started to be a trainee in October 2002 and then you debuted in 2005 with Sharp 2?
Yes, I acted that with Go Ara. I debuted as an actor in May 2005 and then debuted with SJ in November that year.
Your training period is considered short. Do you get paid (during training)?
You don't get paid as a trainee but the company provides you with everything you need. There weren't any need to use money. Food and accommodation were taken care of and there were some pocket money. I stayed at Cheongdam-dong in Seoul at that time. U-know Yunho, SJ Donghae, Trax Jay and me stayed together. Yunho debuted as DBSK in 2004 and was the first to leave the dorm.
It must be good at that time. One often feel that the student period is the best after coming out to the society. Similarly, singers will feel that it is the best during trainee period?
I really miss those times. Like what Lee SooMan sunbaenim or any other senior singers said, the training period is the best and the most interesting, create more memories. At that time, I didn't understand. Looking back after debuting, that period is really the best. Nobody knows me, if the 4 of us go back to that time, it must be fun.
It must be good if the 4 of you can play together.
Definitely, anywhere I go, my looks will attract attention. Hahaha.
Do you still contact any of those female celebrities you have met when you were a trainee?
I was close to Son Dambi since trainee period. Although we belong to different companies, we really get along well, and we got close quickly. Moreover she has a boyish character, a nice character, it's good to live together, comfortable, it's good. Maybe because we are both successful now, so we can maintain the friendship well. If one of us drops out, we might not be as close as we are now.
Are there a few SM trainees or are there like hundreds?
Right now I am not sure but there were really a lot during our era.  At that time it wasn't like what is now, there are so many auditions. Every weekend, there will be a very long queue outside the company, they are all here for the audition. From what I know, amongst those who came for the auditions themselves, only SNSD Yoona, SHinee Taemin and I got selected.
Most of the trainees were picked from the streets by the scouts?
Yes, most of them were scouted and came looking for the company after being contacted. The company's system is very successful. Isn't this like one bottomless pit after another bottomless pit? Nobody knows who will succeed so it was a risk to take. Like when I was a newbie the company didn't like what I said in the broadcasts, we must be more mysterious. But I used dialects and said everything that I want to say. I was the first kid to behave like this among the SM idols. Why is there a kid like this? I feel that I was a little special too, and a little rude. Although some people thought that I was a problematic kid, Lee SooMan sunbaenim understood me and even gave me a lot of encouragement. If not for Lee SooMan sunbaenim, I won't be here.
Your hometown is?
Hoengseong, I stayed in Wonju before. Studied in a elementary school in Seoul, Sillim-dong. Then I went back to Wonju for middle and high school.
Did you get into others beside Sangji University?
My English is really bad, so I thought I should really learn my English well. I chose to major in English, it was really hard. So I studied it while training. I even thought of transferring to another school but it clashed with my debut so it's like this now. I was from Gangwon-do so going to Sangji University is like attending a school in my hometown. So I transferred there during my 4th year at Sangji University.
I think you can even got for elections in Wonju.
Politics should be left to politicians.
You look like a politician more than a politician. You might become a director in SM or a representative to take part in an election.
I don't know anything about politics, I just want to promote my hometown a bit.
Do you feel inferior at all about your birth place?
Not that I don't feel inferior at all, I just don't show it. I even thought about getting rid of my dialect before but I have been very casual since my trainee days (so I didn't do it). I like rock very much but my company doesn't like such rough and explosive kind of singing, so I ended up not going to the practice room. I was asked to write a self-reflection letter because of this but I wrote 'I didn't do anything wrong but because you asked me to write this so I am writing it' on the letter.
You are really daring, but you were asked to do self-reflection?
The company thinks that personality education is important. To a celebrity, it is important that we have good progress but personality and mannerism are even more important. We will always do our greetings well. Those singers that have debuted will greet trainees when they see them. And of course the trainees will also greet the singers. The company is full of this atmosphere. But because I was a disobedient kid from Gangwon-do village and I always disappear, the company listed me as the number 1 target for management.
What does the company do to a rebellious kid like you?
I have been going out casually since I was a trainee. Lee SooMan sunbaenim told me before 'you are not rebellious because of a bad personality. You are just a kid who isn't used to a organized lifestyle but you possess the feel of a celebrity more than others'. Everyone thought that I am a problematic child but the CEO understood me from my personality, gave me affirmation. I wouldn't be here if not for him.
You mum's wish must have been granted. When you signed up with SM, I heard that you mum told the SM staff to grow you into a man.
Now when she sees a SM staff, the first thing she says will be 'thank you for growing my son into a man'. When SM first negotiated the contract terms, my mum said 'just sign up for 30 years directly'. My mum always tell me 'if you are with other companies, will they just let you do whatever you want? Accept all your behaviours? This is the only company that accepts you, don't mess it up, do well'.
I feel that SM is like military. YG has more of a free and unrestrained image. Have you thought of going to other companies?
I think I am more unrestrained than YG (laughs). Not that I have not thought about it but no matter which company it is, even if the unhappiness is gone at first, there will also be more other kinds of unhappiness. What I envy about YG is YG only does music shows for once or twice a week. SM has 4 in a week. To be honest, if we go only once or twice a week, we will have more time to prepare and it's not so tiring. But the funny thing is Sandara Park of 2NE1 told me 'Oppa, we are more envious that SM has so many shows'.
Seems like SM will control personal time too. Does the company stop you from dating or talking to opposite genders?
Our company doesn't do this, healthy dating is permitted. So they emphasize more on thinking correctly to make the right decisions.
The people in SM are trustable.
Of course, when you keep telling me 'well done', I will really do it well. Why do you tell me that I have personality when I obviously just did it without thoughts? Seems like they were afraid that  I will go on the wrong path if they scold me. They even accepted things like this so I felt that I should work harder. Kangta hyung and Lee Sooman sunbaenim are both like this. He must do something he wants to do. It's not like he will do well after you scold him. Even if he goes on the wrong path, he will still follow what he should be following. So just let him do whatever he wants.
Looks like you will speak up directly if you are unhappy with the company.
So the staff will leave when they see me coming in. But when the rookie groups have a showcase or when they first appear in broadcasts, the staff will contact me, asking how I feel about it, they will not ask me how their singing was... I am not outstanding in the singing department. 'Do you think these kids will become popular?' They are asking me this because they feel that my opinions are good. I will tell them all the bad points.
How was EXO?
It will be good to not change their hair colours so often when they just debuted. That was my opinion. It is tiring for the fans to keep looking for this oppa or that oppa. It will also confuse the public if you keep changing their hair colours. I also told them not to give them the same hair colour. The first thing that people remember is always 'he is that kid with long hair', 'that kid with red hair'... obvious trademarks like this.
How are you so confident of things like this? Do you read forums?
I used to post replies in many forums in the past. You can get to know news in every area online, I was on the computer everyday. I cut that down after my debut. Although it is important to communicate with fans, there is no need to become a netizen. There should also be a limit to reading the comments from netizens. They might even lose their self confidence if they don't limit that. To the hoobaes too, don't read the comments from the netizens. Scoldings are everywhere, don't even know how they look like, don't even know what they are working as, there is no need to go mix around there.
You don't use Facebook or Kakaotalk?
I am using those but I am only posting my own words. In the past I used to post society problems on Twitter. Although I didn't mean that, I got scoldings for it. So now I only post my photos, or what I am doing today.
For the readers of Women's Central, they must be interested to know how to let their children become idols. You are generation 1.5 idol, what do you think about being an idol?
I think it's ok for me. Like what hyung said, personal character makes a big difference. Some friends who are having a tough time really have a hard time. When you compare an actor and an idol, it seems that  actors have an easier life because there are a lot of die hard fans. When an actor acts in a very popular drama, he will become very popular. I will not be easily affected by scandals too. I will not be like a fan, pay, buy albums, watch concerts.. I am fine with just watching TV. But idols are moving alongside with fans. It doesn't matter how much freedom you have here, it is more important to do your own part. Although it is important to do things for fans, you will lose your own way if you only do things for fans. But if you love yourself and  live for yourself, you will know how valuable fans are.
What if the readers want to teach their children to be idols?
Teach him to love himself first.
Although being a celebrity is a good job but it seems like idols are a bit more special. Even you are popular at first hit, it's hard to maintain it.
Yes, if you are raising your child as an idol, firstly parents have to throw away thoughts like 'our child is so talented but lack the courage' or 'our child is the best'. Everyone has different opinions. In the parents' eyes, their child is the best but he is not in other people's eyes. The idols' parents have more power than what we imagine. SM doesn't let parents interfere but such cases happened in other companies. To the mother, her own son is the best, so when other kids get more popular, they will start to create a scene, it isn't good like this.
SM's idols' parents are not allowed to interfere with their work? The parents of members must be close.
Yes, they are even going to China together for holidays. But my mum is the oldest, she is 62 years old.
Your mum gave birth when she was older.
My mum got married later. I have a sister that is older than me by a year. About 7-8 years ago, my sister opened a hallyu cafe in myeongdong. Though I go there sometimes but if the operations is going well, I don't interfere much. It was my sister who said that she has no intentions of using my fans, she is just doing a normal business. I don't like people who make use of others popularity or making use of others' backgrounds. I will not give in even if it is my parents or siblings.
Zhoumi 太贪心 (Blind) Lyrics
Blind Chinese version
太贪心 (Literally translate to 'Too Greedy')
Sang by Zhoumi
在与你相遇的曾经 我找到幸福的定义
At that time when I met you, I found the definition of happiness
心跳每天感动的提醒 我的视线只为你牵引
The emotions I feel in my heartbeat remind me daily, my eyes only follows you
跟着你疯了 我也愿意
I am willing even if I become crazy following you
从不知以爱的名义  会把你埋在怀里 承受爱的艰辛
Never did I know I will bury you in my arms in the name of love, bearing the hardships of love
*怪我的眼太贪心 爱流得不剩一滴
*Blaming it on my eyes for being too greedy, love flows till nothing is left
 太贪心 犯滥的爱快淹没了你
Too greedy, overflowing love has drowned you
怪回忆都太贪心 美得让我看不见你
Blaming it on my memories for being too greedy, it's so beautiful that I can't see you
吞噬爱的伤痕 失去 你对爱贪图的心
Devouring the scars of love, your greed for love is gone
我以为爱永远晶莹 没有人比你更透明
I thought love will always be crystal clear, no one will be more transparent than you
如今隔着幸福的玻璃 蒙尘的你我已看不清
Right now separated by the glass of happiness, you are covered by dust I can no longer see you clearly
痛碎的心 总是让你哭泣
Your broken heart always make you cry
*Repeat
还贪图你的背影
Still longing for your shadow
还来得及吗 后悔着说不出的伤
Can I still make it?  Pain that cannot be told in my regret
怪我的手太贪心 都冷了还想握紧
Blaming my hand for being too greedy, wanting to hold on to it even when it has turned cold
 太贪心 贪心得还不放弃爱你
Too greedy, so greedy that I am not ready to give up on loving you
怪发丝也太贪心 不断纠缠我的眼睛
Blaming the hair for being too greedy, they continue to blind my eyes
无法摆脱过去 爱你 还想爱你 那颗我贪图的心
Unable to break away from the past, loving you, still want to love you, the heart of mine that is too greedy.
爱你 我贪图的你的心
Loving you, your heart that I am greedy for
当代歌坛 Zhoumi Interview
当代歌坛
Zhoumi Interview
About China Line
Recently you hosted C-Radio with Jia and Fei, how do you feel?
It was relaxing because it's my mother tongue and the two partners, Jia and Fei, are good friends of mine so I don't feel nervous at all. To us, this radio show has a special meaning. I have know Jia and Fei for more than a year and we always talk about having a show for China Line. Coincidently, MBC wanted to do a program like this. They looked for us and we accepted it. Although the 3 of us are DJs whenever there are guest there, I feel like this radio show belongs to everyone. We chatted like friends, letting others know how it is like to be a Chinese living in Korea.
Are you the head of the China Line?
There isn't really a leader but if you arrange us according to age, I am the first. Hahaha (The manager quickly shifted the conversation back) Ok ok, I was 18 last year. We have different roles in the China Line. Like there will be a member who will suggest for gatherings. That member is often EXO's Tao or Tasty's Big and Litte Dragon. Jia is in charge of communication, she will contact everyone. Every time when we gather, I will lead and start the talk because I am the oldest. Hahaha (laughing again, actually how are you old?). I have been to Korea for 6 years and it was the first time 7/8 of us gathered together for Mid Autumn festival. Just eating with friends like this gave me a lot of thoughts. Alone for so long, finally we can gather together.
Do you have anything to tell the new trainees who just arrived in Korea?
As long as you are a Chinese debuting in Korea, we are happy to gather with you. I feel that those artistes work overseas are really having a hard time. Like us, who are older hahahaha (laughing once again, stop saying you are old, you are just a big boy), when we are having a hard time we can still bear with it. But those who are younger than us, they will miss home more. Since we have a Line, all of us can take care of each other like family. So we welcome any Chinese artistes who are working in Korea to come join us.
Fast Thinking Musician
Who do you interact with more in terms of music?
Musically, Lay (EXO) chats with me a lot. I only started composing these two years, previously I only wrote lyrics. Lay likes to compose too, he started before his debut. He likes to pull me into his room and say "Hyung, listen to this song I made". At that time he compose mainly on the theme of family love. Something like 'I miss you Mum', so I really can't give him much advice. These few years he has slowly turned right (Turned Right? This kid was probably being influenced by his hyungs), and started composing songs which I can give more advice. Slowly, we started chat more, including the music styles he likes. He is growing up and becoming more matured.
What kind of habits do you have when composing? For example do you write the lyrics first or the melody?
I think, whether a song is nice or not depends a lot on the melody. So when I am composing a song, I will compose the melody first then write the lyrics. What did you ask me just now? (What kinds of habits do you have when composing?) I can't drag stuff. I have a fast personality. Just like when I wrote my book. When I knew that I had the possibility of publishing the book, I didn't sleep for 4 days when I was in Thailand. I wrote it throughout the night, every night, I wrote for like 5 hours. I was afraid that if I drag, I might not want to do this on again on the second day. Basically when the company gives me a song, I will hand it in the second day. I will only give myself one night's time. From 12am when it's deep into the night and quiet, when it's quiet, I can think better without getting distracted.
How many times did you amend the lyrics the most?
Up till now I have written 9 songs' lyrics. The company seems to approve my lyrics pretty quickly. But I am suspecting if they approve it because they saw that it's written by me. Hahaha.. but actually they did do some selecting. Maybe because I have been with the company for a long time,so I know what kind of feel they want. What kind of lyrics should match this music style. Because we have Korean members so I avoid using hard words. After a long time, I understand more in these areas than people outside (not in the company).
What kind of music styles are you more incline to? Ballads or Dance?
I prefer slow ballads because I think I am most comfortable with that, more relaxed. But I want to try different styles lately. SJM has more fast songs but whenever I said that I want to sing and dance together, Jia and Fei will tease me, they will tell me "Just sing your songs well". I will reply them "Please, I belong to the dance scene". So I am looking for a chance in future to do something awesome to give them a shock. But right now I still do mainly ballads.
Self-Improving Actor
What plans do you have for acting?
Actually I received a role in September but before I join the filming crew, there were some changes so I didn't go for it in the end. However I have not been lazing for this half year. Besides the concerts with SJ and some solo activites, I am also preparing new productions. Hopefully they can be released soon. Because as long as there is an opportunity, I would like to try it out. At first the company assigned me as singer but slowly I get to do MCing, writing and dramas. They are all trying processes for me. If I don't try it, I will not know if I will really like it. After trying, I feel that maybe I can really do this and work harder for it, getting better at this area, to do the role better when I receive a new script.
What kinds of roles do you want to challenge next?
I want to try out lifestyle dramas. Those that mothers like to watch. Recently I am watching 'Let's Get Married'. Considering my looks and age, it may be a little too early to try out this kind of drama. But I really got lots of feelings from that drama because the actors really did it very well. The script was good too, I feel like getting married with someone after watching it. This is the influence that the actors of that show gave me. I don't know if it is possible but I really want to try out lifestyle dramas. Actually I wanted to try doing the bad guys because I think my looks especially suits it. Those kind of cool bad guys with fire in their hearts but looks cold on the outside. But after watching 'Let's Get Married' I think it's a challenge too to act as a normal everyday peasant. I can make myself look uglier but if that doesn't work then I have no idea how. (But you are unable to convince others that you want to get married) But look at Gao YuanYuan, she is so pretty and she gives people the impression that she doesn't want to get married... yet she doesn't look awkward in that show. (Even after the manager and I made fun of him, he is still persistence with doing a life drama).
Editor's note:
Zhoumi brought along a youthful looking coat but the photographers ignored it. In the end that coat didn't make it to appear on screen. During the interview, Zhoumi persistently wore it to show a bit of pity and protest.Till the end of the interview, he still wanted to try shoot some pictures with it.
